A new lighter is out on the market that can both light your cigarette and help you quit smoking. Known as Quitbit, it is the first smart lighter that can track smoking. Ata Ghofrani and Kuji Nakano created this new brilliant technology. After the duo failed to quit smoking in school, they were inspired to create a smart lighter.
The smart lighter joins a line of other health tracking devices. With an LED display of 67*43*10mm, Quitbit shows the number of cigarettes smoked by recording the number of times the lighter has been used, as well as the time lapse between cigarettes. Smart lighters light cigarettes with a heating coil similar to the coil present in cars. Quitbit also allows a setting for a daily maximum number of cigarettes – once the limit is reached the lighter automatically shuts off. This lighter is especially created for people trying to quit smoking. Of interest to note is that it only tracks the owner’s smoking. Because the smart lighter connects with smart phones via Bluetooth, sharing your smart lighter with friends won’t impact the tracking.
It is compatible with I phone 4S, 5, 5S and android 4.3 and above. Smart lighter is rechargeable and its battery lasts for one week. It is not very expensive, and likely to be the last lighter you will ever need to buy.
